2008 All Star Meet

We have 23 swimmers who qualified for All Stars this year.   The meet is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. at Castle Rock on Saturday, July 26th - yes, an afternoon meet!   There should be t-shirts for sale for all qualifiers.   More information to come.   We are having practices this week for All Star swimmers from 8-9 a.m.

End of Season Party

The End of Season Party will be a dessert pot luck on Monday evening, July 21 at 7:00 p.m. at our pool.    There will be awards, dessert and swimming until 10 p.m.

T-shirts and Duffel Bags for sale

We have given out our free t-shirts for the summer and have some extras.   They will be $10 each and we have lots of adult sizes (no adult small though).   If you'd like a swim team duffel bag, we have them for sale for $15.   They are blue and medium sized and great for swim meets and sleepovers.   Email me at lwspilates@comcast.net if you are interested. You can get them at a swim meet or at my house.   Thanks- Lisa

Stroke Clinics

Meet at the pool on Wednesday nights throughout the summer, except for July 2nd, for stroke lessons taught by our coaches. Sign up at the pool during swim practice for a stroke that you'd like to improve on. This clinic is designed for the swimmers who know the basic stroke and would like to shave off time in their races. It is not a good time to bring a young, non-swimmer to learn a brand new stroke. Private lessons are great for that kind of learning. Bring $5 and your swimsuit. The clinic lasts from 6-7 p.m. at our pool. In case of rain, the coaches will still be there to teach. The kids can still swim in rain since the water is warm in the pool. In the rare case of lightning, the pool will close and we won't have lessons. We will try to post it online if the pool is closed, but we might not know until last minute in some cases.

Swim Labs

If you purchased discounted lessons at Swim Labs in April, you may call them anytime to schedule your swim session.   Their phone number is 303-798-7946 and website is www.swimlabs.com.   Mention that you're on the Forest Park Swim Team list and you've prepaid for a lesson.

Surviving Your First Swim Meet

A Beginner's Guide to Surviving your First Swim Meet

I am no expert, by any account, but the following basic ideas should be helpful to new families:

Practices and Colder Weather

As a parent, it is always your decision to allow your child to swim or to keep him/her home on practice days. Practices on cold days are not mandatory. However, to prevent any questioning about whether we’ll have practice or not, the team's policy this summer will be to always have practice.

If you know that your child doesn’t swim well in colder weather, please feel free to keep them home. Many of the younger swimmers might not like the colder temperatures, yet some swimmers want to practice no matter how cold it is.

Again, it is your choice.
